The discount is tied to your degree, not to alumni association membership. Whether you finished an undergraduate program, a graduate degree or a health professions program at UNE, tell us when you call. Discounts may vary by carrier and eligibility.
Living on the southern Maine coast
Biddeford, Saco, Kennebunk, Old Orchard Beach and the Portland area all sit close to the water, and that affects how homes are insured.
Coastal homes and flood
Standard homeowners policies don’t cover flood. If your home is near the ocean or a tidal river, ask us about NFIP and private flood insurance options. Some coastal homes also carry a separate wind or named-storm deductible, so it’s worth knowing what yours is.
Mill conversions and condos
Biddeford and Saco have condos in converted mill buildings and newer developments. An HO-6 policy covers your unit’s interior, belongings and liability alongside the association’s master policy. We can help you read the master policy so you know where it stops.
Starting out after graduate school

Does a graduate or health professions degree from UNE count?
Hanover’s alumni discount is for college and university graduates. Tell us which UNE degree you hold when you call, and we’ll check your eligibility. Discounts may vary by carrier and eligibility.
Will the alumni discount cover flood insurance?
The Hanover alumni discount applies to home and auto policies. Flood insurance is usually a separate policy, through the NFIP or a private flood carrier, so we quote it separately.
Do I need to live in Maine to qualify?
The Hanover alumni discount is available on home and auto policies in Maine and New Hampshire. It is not currently offered in Massachusetts, but we can still compare options there.
