Which independent insurance agencies in New Hampshire and Connecticut have the most Google reviews? We checked office by office on October 19, 2026, and ranked the 10 most-reviewed listings in each state. We’re Portsmouth Atlantic Insurance, an independent agency founded in 2005 and based in Portsmouth, NH, with a second office in Fairfield, CT. We wrote this page and both of our listings appear on it, so we’ve spelled out exactly how we counted.
How did we build these rankings?
- Same-day counts. We read every review count and rating from each office’s Google Maps listing on October 19, 2026, between about 8:50 and 9:15 AM Eastern.
- 100-review minimum. Only listings with 100 or more Google reviews were considered. The 10 with the most reviews in each state made the list.
- Sorted by review count. Ratings are shown for reference. A tie in review count would go to the higher rating; there were no ties.
- Local independent agencies only. We left out captive agents that represent a single insurer, insurance companies, AAA offices, online-only agencies, and agencies that sell only health, Medicare or life insurance.
- National brokerages. Local offices of national brokerages, such as HUB International in Alton, NH and Relation Insurance in Cheshire, CT, are included when the office has its own Google listing, and are labeled as such.
- One row per Google listing. Each office is ranked on its own, including both of ours. Agencies with several offices may have other listings with fewer reviews.
- Updates. We plan to recheck the counts every quarter. Counts change daily, so the live Google listing is always the most current number.
Disclosure: Portsmouth Atlantic Insurance wrote and publishes this page, and our Portsmouth listing and our Connecticut office’s listing are included in it. We did not contact or receive anything from the other agencies listed. Agency descriptions are based on each agency’s own website.

What do review counts tell you, and what don’t they?
A large number of reviews tells you that many clients took the time to write about their experience with an office. It doesn’t tell you whether an agency is a good fit for your home, how it handles claims, or which carriers it can offer. Counts also favor offices with longer histories, and they change every day.
- Read recent reviews, not just the total. Look for comments about renewals, claims and how quickly someone called back.
- Read the low ratings too. How an agency responds to a complaint tells you a lot.
- Check the license. The New Hampshire Insurance Department and the Connecticut Insurance Department both offer public license lookups.

A captive agent represents one insurance company, so it cannot compare policies from several carriers the way an independent agency can. We left out captive agents, insurance companies, AAA offices, online-only agencies, and agencies that sell only health, Medicare or life insurance.
