- We counted Google reviews for local independent insurance agency offices in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island on October 4, 2026.
- Each office is ranked as its own Google listing, so agencies with many locations are compared office by office.
- Portsmouth Atlantic Insurance’s Portsmouth office is the most-reviewed independent insurance agency listing in New Hampshire, with 590 Google reviews.
- In Connecticut, Zurita Insurance & Financial Services in Milford leads with 689. Our Stratford, CT listing is second, with 506.
- Breezy Seguros in Framingham leads Massachusetts, Cross Insurance in Providence leads Rhode Island, Kinney Insurance Agency in South Hero leads Vermont and Lotfey Dennett leads Maine.
Which independent insurance agencies in New England have the most Google reviews? We checked, state by state and office by office, and this page shows what we found. We’re Portsmouth Atlantic Insurance, an independent agency founded in 2005 and based in Portsmouth, NH. We wrote this page, and our two offices appear in two of the six lists, so we’ve spelled out exactly how we counted.
How did we build this ranking?
- Date checked. We read each count from the office’s Google Maps listing on October 4, 2026, between about 12:11 and 12:14 PM Eastern.
- Local independent agencies only. We left out captive agents that represent a single insurer (such as State Farm, Allstate, GEICO and Comparion agents), insurance companies, AAA offices and online brokers.
- Online-first agencies left out. Online-first and digital agencies, which sell mainly through a website or app rather than a local office, are not included.
- One row per Google listing. Each office is ranked on its own. Some agencies, such as Cross Insurance, have many offices across New England; counting each office separately keeps the comparison office to office. Agencies with more than one listing in a state appear more than once.
- Our own offices follow the same rule. Our Portsmouth, NH office is ranked in New Hampshire and our Stratford, CT listing is ranked in Connecticut.
- Sorted by review count. We show each listing’s Google rating, but we do not rank on it.
- Updates. We plan to recheck the counts every quarter. Counts change daily, so the live Google listing is always the most current number.
Disclosure: Portsmouth Atlantic Insurance wrote and publishes this page, and our two offices are included in it. We did not contact or receive anything from the other agencies listed.

What do review counts tell you, and what don’t they?
A large number of reviews tells you that many clients took the time to write about their experience with an office. It doesn’t tell you whether an agency is a good fit for your home, how it handles claims, or which carriers it can offer. Counts also favor offices with longer histories, and they change every day.
- Read recent reviews, not just the total. Look for comments about renewals, claims and how quickly someone called back.
- Read the low ratings too. How an agency responds to a complaint tells you a lot.
- Check the license. State insurance departments offer public license lookups.
How do you pick an independent insurance agency?

Why do you rank each office separately?
Some agencies have one office and others have dozens. Ranking each Google listing on its own compares one office with another, so an agency with many locations does not top every state just because it has more listings.
Why are captive agents left out of this list?
A captive agent represents one insurance company, so it cannot compare policies from several carriers the way an independent agency can. This list covers local independent agencies only, so we left out captive agents, insurance companies, AAA offices and online brokers.
